4.フォトニッククリスタルの光導波 路のシミュレーション
 半導体レーザー装 置、光ファイバーの材料として、また今後の技術として期待さ れている「光回路」の素材となるフォトニック結晶の構造につ いてのシミュレーションを、FDTD法という計算法を用いて行っ ています。

5.分子動力学法を用いたクラスター イオンインパクトシミュレーション
 SOR レーザー加工のために必要な部品であるSiCミラーの製造精度を 向上するために、Arイオンの集合体(Arクラスタ)をSiCミラー 表面に打ち込むという加工技術のシミュレーションを行ってい ます。この研究では研究室実験では観測が難しいため、シミュ レーション実験の分野で研究が進んでいます。

8.MHD(磁気流体力学)シミュレーショ ン
 未来のエネルギー源として注目され ている核融合炉の冷却に用いる液体金属の流れについてのシミュ レーションを、流路内に発生する磁場の影響まで考慮して行っ ています。核融合研と共同研究しています。また、Jupiter-II プロジェクトに参加しUCLAと共同研究をおこなっています。
